Reggie’s NBA Chances?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kyle Sielaff @ 12:05 pm

There is no doubt he is big and can handle just about anyone that dares to come in the paint against him, but does he have the Basketball smarts to get it done on the biggest stage… I don’t know. There are several problems.

1. Reggie’s Basketball IQ does not seem to be completely up to par. He does not know the appropriate times to pick up a foul. Too frequently we saw him on the bench with two fouls minutes into the first half.

2. He is big and strong, but that is about it. We never saw any true post moves out of the big fella’ all year long, it was simply him being bigger and more physical.

3. The University of Miami does not have a long standing tradition of sending players to the NBA, the previous two are hanging out overseas. Will a NBA team look at something like this when looking at Reggie?

Bottom line, Reggie Johnson is like most NBA forwards in regards to his height and size, however, those guys have a higher Basketball IQ, have been coached appropriately, and have been put in a position to succeed in the NBA. Reggie, not so much…

  1. Chad Ford of ESPN has Johnson ranked as the number 12 Center overall available in the draft, and the 91st overall prospect. That would not bode well to him getting drafted.
