UConn wins third national title holding Butler to 41 points

There couldn’t have been a more lackluster end to March Madness as the Huskies defeated the Butler Bulldogs 53-41 in Houston Monday night.

While the two teams were superb on defense, both missed several easy shots and compiled a poor display of basketball in general. Youth basketball coaches across the nation had their kids covering their eyes as the action, or lack there of, unfolded.

Butler ended the game shooting an abysmal 18% from the field and could not get their first points in the paint until the final minutes.

UConn was not much better, shooting 34% from the field with Kemba Walker going 5-for-19, but the difference was in their interior defense and rebounding led by Alex Oriakhi.

It’s unfortunate that such a great college basketball season ended in such fashion, but nothing can be taken away from the runs the two teams made to get to this point.

Also, congratulations to Jim Calhoun on becoming the oldest coach to win a national championship.
