At a Loss for Words

Anger and shock don’t even begin to explain what I’m feeling right now.   Nineteen point lead….gone.  Seventeen point lead with under 10 minutes left….gone.

The thing is, I almost expected it to happen.  Miami stopped running plays, missed lay-ups and free throws, and didn’t rotate well on defense throughout the second half.  They got complacent, and relied too much on their streaky shooting to carry them.  But when you look at the splits, you wonder how Miami was in the game to begin with.

UNC shot much better from the field, better from the line, and won the rebounding battle by 17.  But UNC’s turnovers essentially gave Miami extra possessions, leading to point swings.  A very, very tough loss for the Canes who have to hope that they’re still in line for an NIT bid at this point.

  1. I’m in the same boat. Was watching and just knowing in the back of my mind that we had a really good chance of blowing it. We led by I believe 14 points in the first matchup against them at the BUC and somehow lost, so it just seemed fated.
