St. John’s – Rutgers Officiating

“They stopped officiating this basketball game,” said an ESPN commentator at the end of today’s game.

The Rutgers – St. John’s game in the Big East Conference Tournament just ended with the Johnnies winning by two.  The talk, however, will not be about the Red Storm victory, but about the horrible officiating at the end of the game.

With 2 seconds left, a St. John’s player grabbed a Rutgers’ turnover, took three steps and walked out of bounds.  When he did so, there were two seconds left.  The referees didn’t blow any whistles but simply walked off the floor to the sound of boos.

Love my St. John’s team this year, but the end was pathetic, and at this point in the season, it is unacceptable to have that blatantly obvious an officiating error.

  1. When is it going to stop. The officials call to the favorites and home team. These refs should be fired. Those seniors at Rutgers are done playing basketball and this is how it ends!!!
