Carmelo Anthony’s trade to the Knicks has revitalized New York.  Since the trade, television ratings have sky rocketed and set station records.  The ticket prices for the remaining home games have increased by more then 85 percent.  Any fan who ordered a Carmelo Anthony #7 jersey online, will have to wait eight to nine weeks.

There also has been an increase in the Knicks social media following.  The likes on the Knicks facebook page have increased by 48,000 (7% increase).  On Twitter, the Knicks gained around 11,000 followers (17% increase).

Call it Melo-Mania or the Melo-Effect

  1. The economic increases and skyrocket in interest in the team is not to be ignored, but on the court the Knicks are 3-3 since the trade for Carmelo, including two losses to the NBA’s worst team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. They did get a monumental road win in Miami, but the recent play of the Heat diminishes the value of that victory. The Heat is clearly going through some struggles right now.
They are a dangerous team in the future though- once they get Carmelo assimilated into the team and surround their all-star forwards with the right role players.
