UMTV Needs Your Help

Filed under: Uncategorized — michaelperchick @ 4:27 pm

I know this isn’t a sports post, but I felt it was important enough to use the forum for.

For those of you who don’t know, the administration is considering making SERIOUS CHANGES to UMTV, our award-winning campus television station.  Most importantly, the administration is considering dropping UMTV from any off-campus provider, meaning the show will only be streamed on-campus and online.

As a broadcast journalism student, UMTV was a HUGE reason in my decision to attend Miami, and hearing that something I, and so many others, have put so much time and hard work into, is on the risk of being significantly altered is troubling.

For those of you who did not receive an e-mail from the ListServ, most Comm. classes are giving out questionnaires, asking students and alumni to voice their opinions on the issue.  If you go to the Communications School faculty office, there are also questionnaires there.

Please make your voice heard… IT IS EXTREMELY EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.  THANK YOU!

  1. Definitely extremely important. As an alum in the DC area, I definitely watch George Mason TV occasionally. However, I never noticed UMTV on local channels when I was living in Miami, on any of the providers I or my family had/has. Does anybody know which providers carry it?

  2. I know at one point Comcast was carrying it, not entirely sure if that’s still the case.

I agree though; UMTV is definitely an important part of the UM experience.
