Kobe needs to realize it’s an All-Star Game

At the half Kobe Bryant has dropped 21 in the All-Star Game and is playing as much defense as I have seen anyone play in such an exhibition game since the four Detroit Pistons took the floor at once in ’06. He’s pressured whoever he’s defending as if it’s the last possession of a critical playoff game. It’s a much better effort than the one he displayed Valentine’s Day in the 20-point loss to the Bobcats or Wednesday night in the defeat to the Cavaliers, the same team the Lakers beat by 55 points earlier in the season. The Lakers went into the All-Star break on a three-game losing streak; so I guess you can’t blame him for the effort to lead his team to victory, given that he hasn’t been able to do it in over a week with his real team.

It appears Kobe is well on his way to winning All-Star MVP honors in his home arena.
