Well That Was Quick: Peter Forsberg Retires….Again

Filed under: Uncategorized — michaelperchick @ 3:31 pm

LL Cool J’s hit song “Mama Said Knock You Out,” famously starts out with the line “Don’t call it a comeback/I’ve been here for years.”  Or in the case of Peter Forsberg, “Don’t call it a comeback/I’ve been here for two games.”

Only two games into Forsberg’s return to the Colorado Avalanche, the experiment is over, as the great has decided to officially hang them up.  Granted, “officially” has about as much weight as any Brett Favre retirement, but I can’t imagine any team giving the Swedish sniper much of a shot after his most recent attempt fizzled.

Forsberg, one of the most talented and beloved players to play in recent memory, saw his career brought down by injuries.  The Avalanche will most likely seek help via a trade before the deadline in order to make a last push to stay in the race.

  2. Not sure what the Avs were expecting, but they’ve dug themselves into a really nice hole in the west.
