Miami-VaTech baseball

Filed under: Uncategorized — scottabraun @ 4:20 pm

I’m in Blacksburg, VA broadcasting the UM-VaTech baseball series and it’s turning out to be quite a matchup. Despite, 6 errors on Friday, VaTech managed to come back from a five-run deficit and take down UM 9-7. In Game 2, Miami looked like a team that could contend for the national championship with starter Eric Erickson tossing a gem, his defense making a bunch of spectacular plays, and the Miami bats tore the cover off the ball. Yasmani Grandal slugged two homeruns and is well on his way to earning ACC POW honors.

Tomorrow’s game will be the best yet. VaTech is looking to continue to stun the baseball world by taking the series after defeating FSU in a three-game series last week. They also will send their best pitcher to the hill in Jesse Hahn who is a surefire 1st round pick. It will be a tough test for the Canes and is one of the most entertaining games as a Canes fan as they will get to see how their squad fares against a future major leaguer and how they handle a hungry VT team in the rubber match.
