Eagles Got Pimped

Donovan McNabb just totally worked the Eagles to get where he wanted and I feel like nobody is talking about it. I understand that it’s a bit crowded in sports buzz right now (NCAA Championship, MLB season underway, NBA and NHL nearing playoff time, NFL Draft, you get the point) but please recognize what just happened.

Understand that I think McNabb has been heavily mistreated for years and that I think he fully deserves his new dream destination. Because it is a dream, think about it. You’re an underappreciated talented QB and your team is trying to throw you on the street (aka give you to the Raiders) and you end up as the starting QB for a football-loving fan base desperate for a proven QB to lead the way. Oh, and you’re in the same division as your former team so you get the chance to make your former team eat dirt at least twice a year, every year, for as long as you want to stay in the league.

So how did he do it? Well, reports say that McNabb pretty much refused to go to any teams that the Eagles wanted to ship him too with threats like not signing a contract extension with the team or even going as far as saying he would just retire. And he wasn’t budging. The Eagles thought he was bluffing but McNabb’s “people” said that he’s got plenty of dough and he’s not going to go where he doesn’t want to go at this stage of his career. Can ya blame him? If he was traded to Oakland he could have sat the year out, rested up, trained hard, and signed with any team the next year. It was inevitable. He was going to get his revenge. It just happens to be coming a year early. Good luck Philly.
