Of Oscars and Rivalry Weekend

Newspaper deadline really cuts back on my TV time.

But thanks to the always-long Academy Awards, I made it for Jeff Bridges’s Best Actor win for “Crazy Heart.”

I just finished watching the entire ceremonies thanks to AT&T DVR, and all in all, there weren’t any surprises.

These supporting acting races have been predictable ever since Javier Bardem and his Dora the Explorer hairdo took the prize for “No Country for Old Men.”

Oh, and on a sports-related note, here’s the shameless plug of the day: http://www.themiamihurricane.com/2010/03/07/no-competition-during-rivalry-weekend/

Read my commentary on UM’s poor showing during Rivalry Weekend. It was so bad it made “Avatar”‘s acting look good…

Maybe Jimmy Graham (above) can find a year of eligibility as a power-hitting baseball player?

  1. I wasn’t at the game but out of curiosity, did Jimmy Graham drop the ball during his windup? I feel like he did.

  2. I don’t remember that. What I do remember is the pitch being high. What else would you expect from a tall guy like Jimmy on the mound? ha
