Vonn wins first medal

Filed under: Uncategorized — nwhesper @ 4:17 pm

With a badly bruised right shin and only two weeks until Lindsey Vonn would compete in what could possibly be the biggest competition of her life, there was no way she was giving up her chance for a gold medal.

She proved her determination by landing her first  Olympic medal in just 44.19 seconds, a half-second quicker than any other competitor. Vonn secured the first downhill gold for an American women. To top it off, Julia Mancuso followed right behind her with the silver medal.

Not only was this a learning experience for Vonn that she could persevere through any pain, but it will be the fire to drive her to rack up medals in years to come.
