Rockin’ at the Olympics

As one could tell by my previous blog post, I’ve been pretty busy lately. So much so that I have been missing out on the Vancouver Olympics! (insert sad smiley)

But today while eating an early dinner and reading over notes for the baseball panel at the Rathskeller I caught a bit of the women’s halfpipe.

They’re allowed to listen to their iPods while competing?

Does anyone else find this strange?

I don’t remember which two American snowboarders they were. Both could be seen skipping to a new song right before starting their runs.

It’s just an interesting observation I thought I’d share. I had never seen that before…

  1. I don’t see the harm in doing so. Certain music is proven to be able to calm someone done or I know that listening to techno speeds up your beats per minute. So in a way it is enhancing performance but I think on a minor level like an energy drink would. Anything that can potentially enhance performance but is not a potential safety threat is fine by me. As long as everyone is allowed to do it then it’s got my approval. I just would like to know what they are listening to. Something on the slower side to calm them down, some fast moving tunes to get the heart racing, or just their favorite genre whether it be rap or rock. What do you think?

  2. I guess I was shocked because I know runners in marathons can’t listen to music.
