Oh, How the Mighty Have Fallen

I’d just like to point out that North Carolina (yes, that North Carolina–defending national champion) is only a half game ahead of Miami (yes, our Miami) in the ACC. Now THAT is amazing. Here are my five sleeper picks come tournament time (assuming they make it into the tourney; I’ll also include their records at the time of this post):

Siena (21-4, 14-0 in the MAAC)- Jack McClinton’s former team has run through their conference like it was a marshmallow and they were a hungry mouth. They played a tough Fairfield team today and have one more difficult game at Niagara, but they have a legitimate shot to go undefeated in conference play.

Cornell (20-3, 6-0 in the Ivy League)- Yes, their logo is a bear hugging the letter “C.” But the fact of the matter is they’re 11-2 on road or neutral courts, and guess what? The tournament doesn’t have any home court advantage.

New Mexico (21-3, 7-2 in the Mountain West)- It’s tough to call the #15 team in the country a sleeper, but hey, it’s my post so I can do what I want. The Lobos have quality wins over Cal, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Dayton, San Diego State, and BYU.

Charlotte (18-5, 10-1 in the A-10)- Wins at Louisville and Richmond and a home defeat of Temple has thrust the 49ers into the A-10 lead. They play at Dayton on Wednesday, and if they can win, they have a tremendous chance to go dancing and do some damage.

Utah State (17-6, 8-2 in the WAC)- First place in their conference and a quality win against BYU? Seems reasonable enough that if they get a decent pairing, a first-round upset isn’t out of the question.

  1. The attendance at the bb game was pathetic. Nonetheless,

A movement should start at UM for Donna Sha-na-na and the BO Trustees, and whomever runs the show and the $ at the U, to build a 50,000 seat stadium, either on or near campus. This has been talked about before, but with all of the money everyone has who is associated with the University, with all of the fundraising Ms Shan nana has been capable of, it is a travesty that UM does not have a football stdium, while FIU, FAU, UCF do. Even more disguisting considering the tradition and history of the U.

What Fl university has more NCs? None
What Fl university has more players inthe NFL? None
What Fl university has had more players inthe probowl? None

5>3. That is a mathematical reality. And we cant build a stadium?

The Sunlife, cumProPlayer cum LAndshark cum Joe Robbie experiment has been a travesty of major proportions. No one argues that the stadium is “nicer” than the Old OB. But “nice” has never been a part of UM CANE football lingo, AND WE SHOULD NOT START NOW!

In the words of Roger Rabbit,

PPPPLLLLLLLLEASE UM administration, build a stadium!
