Pro Bowl: Do you care?

Filed under: Uncategorized — ProfK @ 2:03 pm

Pro Bowl is in town. Do you care? Should they have moved it from Hawaii? Should it be played the week before the Super Bowl? Chime in.

  1. I think it’s great the pro bowl is in Miami probably for selfish reasons. This is my last semester in Miami so why not have both the superbowl and pro bowl here. Also, it’s an interesting coincidence that the Colts like to win championships in Miami–so maybe it all has something to do with why they got a ticket to the super bowl this year. As a result, I get to see Heath Miller be the first Steelers’ tight end to go to the Pro Bowl since 1994. At least I get to see ONE Man of Steel get loose on the field during super bowl time…

Who knows, maybe I’d even get the chance to bump into him at Starbucks or something, a chance that could only be possible because the pro bowl is in Miami. He probably doesn’t even drink coffee, but I can dream, can’t I?

  2. To be honest, I don’t even think there should be a Pro Bowl game. Has anyone here willingly watched more than 5 minutes of a Pro Bowl game? It’s obvious the players don’t care about the game, some find it a nuisance. I think they should announce All-Pro selections at the end of the year and that’s that. No need to play a game that nobody cares about.

That being said, since they are going to continue to play it, I think going to the city of the Super Bowl is a good idea. I’m not so sure about it being played the week before the Super Bowl though.

  3. I have to say that it being here or in Hawaii doesn’t matter too me much. There is something so cool about Hawaii, and I’m sure players don’t care between here and there but for future venues like say Dallas it might seem less phenomenal. Going seemed like fun vaguely but it’s a lot to pay for an exhibition game that the players barely care about. Combined with a Monday morning class (hi sports journalism!) so no crazy tailgate and I’m clearly passing.

The best aspect of it is moving to before the super bowl. Do I think it’ll be great football, no it never is. However I’m still a huge NFL junkie and by having no bye week as a fan works for me. Should be relaxing and amusing to watch, since I’m thinking about it instead of wondering why I care with the Super Bowl done.

While talking about it I have no clue what the NFL was thinking in their rules with Super Bowl players having to be here. No owner or smart player would play, I see no reason for them to be away from their team for this party. Hopefully next year the players can say thanks for the invite, but I’ll be back next week for something that gives me a ring, not a tan.
