Signing Day Update

Filed under: Uncategorized — dvillavicencio @ 3:35 pm

Just got out of the UM SIgning Day Press Conference and let me tell you it has been an interesting day. Lamar Miller chose the Canes as expected but there was a big curveball at Pace High School when safety Kayvon Webster spurned the Canes and joined teammates Derrick Hopkins and Sterling Griffin in signing with South Florida. Webster had been a Miami commit for several months but ultimately felt at home with the Bulls. Coach Clint Hurrt, Miami’s recruiting coordinator, was a bit surprised to see Webster break on his commitment. A former Miami player turned coach, Hurtt said he wants players that want to be Hurricanes.

The Canes signed 19 players today but that does not mean their class is complete. According to Randy Shannon there are still a few unsigned prospects considering Miami. While Shannon cannot mention any names, everyone knows the Hurricanes are in the mix for Bryce Brown, the nation’s number one player.
