The Boys of Summer

Filed under: Uncategorized — akean @ 9:46 pm

Just a reminder that the Canes’ baseball season opens in under 72 hours, this Friday night against the Cincinnati Bearcats. Eric Erickson will toss the first pitch at about 7:05 pm, officially beginning Miami’s journey to the College World Series in Omaha.

The best part about going to a college baseball game is the atmosphere. Growing up outside of Boston, where Red Sox tickets are just about impossible to come by, and I quickly fell in love with the minor league stadiums in the area. Though nothing can compare to a playoff game at Fenway or Wrigley, minor league games are incredibly down-to-earth. Taking in a game at Mark Light Field brings back all of those memories for me. Something about the ridiculous amount of advertisements along the outfield fence and the crowd’s hokey chants (balllllllllll two! whoo!) is just special.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for kids (free for students of course!) and should be available at the gate, so whether you’re on a date, with your friends or even by yourself, come out to the Light and support the Canes!
